Thank you to everyone who supported our New York pop-up in SoHo throughout 2024! We are excited to announce that Onigiri Tanakaya is now officially open at our permanent home on 3rd Avenue near Union Square.
Here, you can enjoy the same lovingly crafted onigiri we’re known for, plus a larger menu of norimaki (sushi hand rolls) and an authentic, curated selection of Japanese grocery items—from hard-to-find snacks to imported Japanese rice to pantry staples. For over a century, our family ran a traditional ryotei in Fukuoka, Japan, welcoming everyone from local families to sumo wrestlers and regional politicians.
